What a Martingale Step Means

Maximum Steps From Bankroll

Why the Lower Limit Matters
You survive only as many steps as the smaller ceiling allows. If bankroll permits six steps but the table permits seven, you fail at step seven because of bankroll. If the table permits five but bankroll permits eight, you fail at step five because of the table. The binding constraint is always the lower of the two, so both must be checked.

With a $50,000 bankroll and a $10 base bet, your bankroll could fund many doublings. But if the table maximum is $500, you can only place $10, $20, $40, $80, $160, $320 before $640 is blocked: six steps. The huge bankroll is irrelevant beyond that point.

How Initial Bet Size Changes Survival Depth
Raising the base bet lowers both ceilings measured in steps, because each doubling starts from a higher number and reaches the limits sooner.
